Hand wash, clay bar, decontamination, and long-lasting protection. Exterior car detailing in Punta Gorda that makes your paint pop.
Punta Gorda sits where the Peace River opens into Charlotte Harbor, and almost everything that makes it a good place to live is hard on a car. The water is the point of the town — fifty-odd miles of saltwater canals through Punta Gorda Isles alone, a working marina at Burnt Store, and boat ramps at Laishley and Ponce de Leon. Salt gets on paint here whether or not you own a boat.
We are based in Punta Gorda, which means this is the shortest drive we make and usually the easiest day to get on the schedule. The mobile setup comes to you — the driveway of a canal home in PGI, a condo lot off Marion Avenue, the office park by the airport on Jones Loop, or a lanai-side pad out at Babcock Ranch. You do not move the car and you do not sit in a waiting room.
What that looks like in practice depends on the car. A garaged weekend car on a brick street downtown needs a different job to a truck that tows to Burnt Store four times a month. We walk the vehicle with you before anything starts, agree what actually needs doing, and price it against the packages rather than talking you into the top tier.
If you are inside the 33950, 33955, 33982 or 33983 ZIP codes, you are in the service area. These are the areas we are in most often.
The canal grid west of US-41, where most homes have a dock behind them. Constant salt spray off the water is why paint protection matters more here than three miles inland.
One of the largest marina communities on the Gulf coast, down Burnt Store Road toward the Lee County line. Heavy on tow vehicles, boat trailers and truck beds that see salt every trip.
The deed-restricted canal and golf community east of US-41. Mature landscaping means sap and pollen on anything parked under the canopy.
The brick streets around Marion and Olympia, Fishermen's Village, Gilchrist Park. Banyan and oak shade is lovely to park under and terrible for your clear coat.
Across the twin US-41 bridges on the north shore. Open exposure to the harbor means wind-carried salt on everything facing the water.
The deed-restricted community off Kings Highway near the I-75 interchange. Long commuter miles and a lot of interstate love bug damage in season.
North on SR-31 with a Punta Gorda mailing address. Still building out, so construction dust and limerock are part of daily life up there.
Quieter lots south and west toward the Charlotte Harbor Preserve. Unpaved stretches and a lot of white dust in the dry season.
The commercial belt around Punta Gorda Airport and I-75 exit 161. We detail plenty of fleet and work vehicles on site here during the day.
Covering ZIP codes 33950, 33955, 33982, 33983 across Charlotte County.
Detailing on the harbor is not the same job as detailing inland. These are the four things we spend the most time undoing here.
You do not have to launch a boat to get salt on your paint. The prevailing Gulf breeze carries salt aerosol well inland, where it settles into panel gaps, wheel wells and the seams around trim, and stays there until something deliberately removes it.
Irrigation here runs on well and reclaimed water with a heavy mineral and iron load. Park a light-colored car inside a sprinkler arc for a season and you get the orange staining locals call sprinkler rust, baked on by the sun. It needs decontamination, not another wash.
Florida gets two love bug flights a year, roughly May and again in September, and the remains are acidic. Left on hot paint they will etch through clear coat in a matter of days, not weeks. A wash during those weeks is maintenance, not vanity.
Every trip down a ramp puts the back half of the tow vehicle in salt water, and it dries in the frame rails and behind the bumper. Rinsing the trailer and forgetting the truck is the most common way good paint gets ruined here.
What each part of the year does to a vehicle here, and when it is worth getting ahead of it.
February – April
Oak pollen coats everything for a couple of weeks and sticks hard to anything left damp overnight. It is also the busiest stretch of the year downtown, so driveways in PGI and around Marion Avenue get booked out earlier than usual.
May and September
Anyone running US-41 or the I-75 stretch to Jones Loop will come home with a coated front end. The remains are acidic and start etching hot clear coat within days, so this is the wrong fortnight to put a wash off.
June – September
Afternoon downpours dry on the panel and leave the minerals behind, and a closed cabin parked on the harbor can pass 140°F. It is also when protection earns its keep — a sealed car is far easier to clean up after a storm.
October – January
Lower humidity, no love bugs and comfortable working temperatures. This is the best window for the bigger jobs — paint correction and ceramic coating both cure better and are easier to schedule before season picks up again.
If the car lives near the water — PGI, Burnt Store, anywhere off the harbor — the limiting factor is bonded salt and mineral deposit, not dirt. A normal wash slides straight over both. The Sealant Package exists for exactly this: clay bar and iron decontamination first, then four to six months of protection so the next wash actually works.
For a garaged car downtown that mainly needs keeping rather than rescuing, Full Detailing every three to four months is usually the right rhythm. For a truck that tows to Burnt Store, Premium Detailing with the six-month sealant makes more sense, because it is the protection interval rather than the clean that matters.
If the paint is already dull, swirled or showing sprinkler staining that will not come off, that is a paint correction conversation rather than a package. We quote it after looking at the car, because how much correction it needs is not something anyone can price over the phone.
